Pasig wins Batang Pinoy, ends Baguio's streak

Pasig City emerged as the new champion of the Batang Pinoy competition held in Puerto Princesa City on Friday, November 29.

With 771 members in their delegation, Pasig won 105 golds, 64 silvers, and 116 bronze medals, ending Baguio's four-year reign as champion.

Baguio finished second with 92 golds, 72 silvers, and 89 bronzes, while Quezon City, Davao City, and General Santos City rounded out the top five.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto credited their success to investments in grassroots sports programs and emphasized the importance of holistic development for youth.

Swimmer Arvin Naeem Taguinota II from Pasig won six gold medals, while his sister Arabella set a new record in the girls' 16-17 age group breaststroke event.

Pasig City will receive P5 million as an incentive for winning the championship, with Baguio receiving P4 million for second place.
