DOH affirms face masks essential for COVID-19 prevention

On Friday, September 25, the DOH reaffirmed its stance that wearing face masks and maintaining physical distance are scientifically proven methods to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

The department emphasized the importance of adhering to these minimum public health standards during a pandemic.

Earlier, Archbishop Emeritus Ramon Arguelles had downplayed the necessity of such measures in his homily, suggesting faith alone is sufficient protection against the virus.

In response, Malacañang spokesperson Harry Roque urged Arguelles on Thursday not to discourage people from wearing masks and highlighted the scientific evidence supporting their use.
