Bersamin: Bautista resigns due to health

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin clarified on Thursday that Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista's resignation was due to health issues and not dissatisfaction with his performance.

Bersamin stated during an interview that President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. and Bautista had lengthy discussions indicating the need for rest due to poor health, without any other considerations.

Vince Dizon will replace Bautista as the new Transportation Secretary after February 21 when Bautista steps down.

Asked about rumors involving Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Ivan Uy and Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez, Bersamin said he has yet to know if reports about them leaving their government posts are true.

Bersamin emphasized that the President is always concerned about the health and well-being of his Cabinet members.
