Marcos Jr. appoints Vince Dizon as new transport secretary

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Vince Dizon as the new transportation secretary effective February 21.

Dizon will replace Jaime Bautista, who is stepping down due to health concerns and plans to take a vacation for recuperation.

Senate President Francis Escudero and Senator Grace Poe welcomed Dizon's appointment, expressing optimism about his leadership and the challenges ahead in accelerating infrastructure projects.

Over the past 26 years in government service, Dizon played a significant role in major infrastructure projects under Duterte’s 'Build, Build, Build' program such as the Metro Manila Subway Project and North-South Commuter Railway System.

Dizon previously held high-ranking positions including CEO of Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) and was appointed the Philippines' testing czar during the COVID-19 pandemic.
