Business leaders back Aug lockdown to curb Delta variant

Philippine business leaders and Joey Concepcion, an adviser to President Duterte, support implementing a strict two-week lockdown in August to contain the spread of the Delta variant.

Businesses prefer this approach over stricter community quarantine measures in September, October, November, and December because August is traditionally a slow period for most businesses due to bad weather and cultural beliefs.

Concepcion noted that the fourth quarter is crucial for business as it includes Christmas spending and election-related expenses.
