PAL lands first commercial flight at Subic in 10 years

A Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight carrying 299 returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Saudi Arabia landed at Subic Bay International Airport (SBIA) on Wednesday, marking the first commercial passenger flight to arrive there since 2011.

Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) chairman Wilma Eisma welcomed the arriving workers and noted that Senator Richard Gordon had requested over a year ago for Subic, Clark, and Mactan airports to be opened as alternate entry points for stranded OFWs during the pandemic.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) also resumed operations at SBIA on Wednesday with the arrival of PAL's flight, marking its return to the airport after a decade-long hiatus.
