Pagasa warns of Tropical Depression Kristine, raises TCWS No. 1

Moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds are expected over parts of Luzon and Batangas on Sunday afternoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The affected areas include Laguna, Rizal, Metro Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Zambales, and Batangas.

Intense to torrential rain showers with lightning and strong winds were reported in Batangas and Quezon provinces.

Pagasa advised residents to take precautionary measures against potential flash floods and landslides.

Earlier, Pagasa indicated that a low-pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility would likely enter the country on Sunday afternoon or evening and develop into Tropical Depression Kristine within 24 hours. Tropical Depression Kristine is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm in the next 12 hours and may become a typhoon by Thursday or Friday.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has been raised over several areas, including parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
