PAGASA warns 25 areas at 'danger level' heat index on Monday

Twenty-five areas across the Philippines are forecast to experience a 'danger level' heat index on Monday, May 26, according to PAGASA.

The highest risk is in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, with a predicted heat index of 46°C, followed by Aparri, Cagayan, at 45°C; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, and Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, will also reach 44°C.

Other areas such as Sangley Point in Cavite City are expected to reach 44°C, while several other regions could hit indices between 42°C and 43°C.

PAGASA warns that heat indices between 42°C and 51°C may cause heat cramps, exhaustion, and stroke, urging the public to limit outdoor activities and stay hydrated.

The weather bureau advises wearing fresh clothes and staying indoors during peak heat hours to prevent heat-related illnesses.
