PAGASA warns 14 areas in Luzon-Visayas may hit 45°C on Black Saturday

At least 14 areas in Luzon and Visayas are expected to experience a dangerous heat index of up to 45 degrees Celsius on Black Saturday, according to PAGASA.

The hottest spots include Roxas City with a peak heat index of 45°C; Iloilo City at 44°C; Dumangas, Iloilo; Mambusao, Capiz; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Princesa and Aborlan, Palawan; NAIA in Pasay City; Sangley Point, Cavite; Calapan, Oriental Mindoro; Coron, Palawan; Masbate City; CBSUA in Pili, Camarines Sur.

PAGASA warns that heat cramps and exhaustion are likely at these temperatures, with the possibility of heat stroke from prolonged exposure to dangerous categories ranging from 42°C to 51°C.

Filipinos are advised to limit outdoor activities during peak temperatures, stay hydrated, use protective gear like umbrellas and hats, and avoid heavy-duty tasks during midday.

Iloilo City has extended its suspension of flag-raising ceremonies until April due to continuing high heat index levels.
