LPA now off Zamboanga City, northeast monsoon affecting Luzon

The low pressure area (LPA) has moved off Zamboanga City and is now affecting Luzon due to the northeast monsoon.

According to PAGASA, the LPA's trough will bring scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms to Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Caraga, Davao Region, Western Visayas, and Central Visayas within the next 24 hours.

The rest of the Visayas and Mindanao are expected to have generally good weather.

PAGASA warned that flash floods and landslides may occur due to moderate to heavy rain in some areas.

The LPA was first spotted east of Davao City on February 5, but has since moved southwest towards Zamboanga City.

The northeast monsoon is also affecting Luzon, bringing rain to the region.

PAGASA said the LPA is unlikely to become a tropical depression and may dissipate once it hits land.
