PAGASA issues heat alert for 19 areas, 44°C in Tuguegarao, Cavite

PAGASA has issued a heat index alert for Tuesday, May 6, with 19 areas across the country expected to experience dangerous levels on Wednesday, May 7.

Tuguegarao City in Cagayan and Cavite City's Sangley Point are projected to reach 44°C on Wednesday, while Dagupan City in Pangasinan, ISU Echague in Isabela, San Ildefonso in Bulacan, TAU Camiling in Tarlac, and Alabat in Quezon will record a heat index of 43°C.

NAIA in Pasay City, Science Garden in Quezon City, Bacnotan in La Union, Aparri in Cagayan, Baler (Radar) in Aurora, Iba in Zambales, Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac City, NAS-UPLB in Los Baños, Laguna, Coron in Palawan, San Jose in Occidental Mindoro, and Zamboanga City are forecasted to reach 42°C.

BSU in La Trinidad, Benguet is expected to register the lowest heat index of 23°C for Wednesday.

Areas under the 'danger' classification face an increased risk for heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and potentially heatstroke with prolonged exposure.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activities during peak hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., stay hydrated, and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
