PAGASA forecasts 'danger level' heat for 28 areas on election day

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecast a 'danger level' heat index for 28 areas in the country on election day, May 12.

Synoptic stations in Cavite City, Northern Samar, Isabela, Bulacan, Quezon, Batangas, Albay, Sorsogon, and other regions could measure a heat index of 42°C to 45°C.

PAGASA categorizes heat indices between 42°C and 51°C as dangerous, posing risks for heat cramps, exhaustion, and stroke.

The weather bureau advises the public to limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and wear fresh clothes to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Areas expected to experience extreme temperatures include Sangley Point in Cavite City, Catarman in Northern Samar, ISU Echague in Isabela, and others listed by PAGASA.
