PAGASA forecasts 4-7 typhoons in PH from Oct-Dec, 71% chance of La Niña

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced on Tuesday that two to three tropical cyclones are expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in October.

For November and December, PAGASA forecasts one or two tropical cyclones each month, with a total of four to seven tropical cyclones entering PAR from October until the end of the year.

Nine tropical cyclones have already formed inside or entered PAR this year, mostly traversing either Luzon or Visayas during the specified period.

PAGASA also noted a 71% chance that La Niña will develop between September and November, potentially leading to more powerful storms and increased rainfall until early 2025.

From January to March 2025, up to three tropical cyclones may form or enter PAR, according to PAGASA's projections.
