Typhoon Julian intensifies, Signal No. 5 possible in Northern Luzon

Typhoon Julian intensified further and may lead to the hoisting of Signal No. 5 in extreme Northern Luzon due to significant wind threats reaching up to 185 kph or higher.

As of Monday morning, PAGASA projects that Typhoon Julian's peak winds increased from 155 kph to 175 kph, with the typhoon expected to be at its closest to Batanes and Babuyan Islands on Monday morning to afternoon.

Parts of Northern Luzon and Central Luzon are still warned about likely floods and landslides, while Metro Manila, Calabarzon, and other regions may experience scattered rain and thunderstorms due to Julian's extension.

Very high seas are seen in the seaboards of Batanes (waves up to 14 meters high) and the seaboards of Babuyan Islands (waves up to 10 meters high), making travel risky for all vessels, while moderate to rough seas persist elsewhere.
