P6.8M shabu seizure, suspect apprehended in Sulu

Anti-narcotics agents seized P6.8 million worth of shabu from a drug peddler in Barangay Chinese Pier, Jolo, Sulu on Monday, May 19.

The suspect, Abdul Munin Burani Akmad, was apprehended during an entrapment operation and is now in police custody for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Director Gil Cesario Castro of PDEA-BARMM reported that Akmad surrendered peacefully after realizing he had sold a kilo of shabu to undercover agents on Serantes Street.

Castro thanked the Philippine Coast Guard, Jolo Municipal Police Station, and Sulu Provincial Police Office for their assistance in the operation.

The Sulu Provincial Peace and Order Council pledged support by identifying Akmad's accomplices across the province for prosecution.
