DSWD to validate beneficiaries after cash aid distribution

The DSWD will validate beneficiaries after they receive cash assistance for poor households affected by COVID-19, allowing local government units (LGUs) to distribute funds within 24 hours.

As of April 17, the DSWD has released PHP71.2 billion to 1,648 LGUs for the social amelioration program, targeting around 18 million low-income households and those in the informal sector with monthly cash subsidies of PHP5,000 to PHP8,000.

By April 15, over PHP57.5 billion had been distributed to 934 LGUs, accounting for about 72% of the total PHP80.9 billion allocated by the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.
