73K OFWs, dependents enroll in TESDA training programs

About 73,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents have enrolled in TESDA's training programs this year.

As of September 13, around 71,251 OFWs have enrolled through the online program during the pandemic, while others have taken actual scholarship programs.

TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña said these trainings aim to ensure job opportunities or livelihood for participants and noted an 85% employability rate among those trained.

Due to economic slowdown, TESDA prioritizes agriculture training to address food security.

To reach more OFWs, TESDA launched the 'TESDA Abot Lahat and OFWs' program in June, providing easy access through a mobile app link for registration.
