57K voters, incl 29K troops, get LAV for May midterms

More than 57,000 voters will cast their ballots through local absentee voting (LAV) for the May 12, 2025 midterm election.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) approved a total of 57,689 LAV applications, including 1,005 media personnel and 29,030 members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Additionally, 23,448 police officers and 4,206 individuals from various government offices are also among those approved for absentee voting.

The voting period for absentee voters will run from April 28 to April 30, 2025.

Among other government agencies, the Department of Education (DepEd) had the highest number of approved voters at 1,290, followed by COMELEC personnel with 922 and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) with 707.
