Over 150 Filipinos from Sudan to arrive in Manila this week

Over 150 Filipino evacuees from Sudan are expected to arrive in Manila this week.

As of Tuesday, 33 Filipinos have arrived, with at least 24 more scheduled for Wednesday and around 100 by the end of the week.

The DFA has authorized over USD900,000 or PHP49.7 million for evacuation efforts since conflict broke out in Sudan.

A total of 340 Filipinos had reached Egypt from Khartoum earlier this month and were welcomed by Philippine Ambassador to Egypt Ezzedin Tago.

The Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople is overseeing the repatriation process, ensuring that evacuees are treated well during their journey back to the Philippines.
