Ortega reveals new names in VP Duterte's confidential fund list

House Deputy Majority Leader Francisco Paolo Ortega V revealed new names allegedly listed as recipients of Vice President Sara Duterte's multi-million peso confidential funds.

Ortega claims these stylized names suggest the use of aliases to hide transactions involving confidential funds from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and Department of Education (DepEd), raising public suspicion, while he also plans a 'mini-investigation' on actual beneficiaries with existing records.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) found that around 670 out of 1,992 names under OVP's list 'most likely matched' existing records, while only about 200 of the 677 recipients listed under DepEd have matching PSA records.

Nearly P300 million was spent for recipients with no PSA records and Ortega said the House good government committee will also verify individuals whose names match existing records to clarify if they received any funds or how they were used.

Ortega emphasized that checking whether actual beneficiaries truly received the funds is crucial, as Vice President Duterte has failed to explain exactly how these funds were utilized.
