Olympic veterans lead Philippine Athletics Championships

Paris Olympics veterans Lauren Hoffman and John Cabang Tolentino, along with other elite athletes such as Robyn Brown, Kristina Knott, and Angel Frank, will participate in the ICTSI Philippine Athletics Championships at New Clark City from May 1 to 4.

About 800 athletes, including 60 international participants from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, India, and Papua New Guinea, are expected to compete in this World Athletics category B event.

Philippine Athletics deputy coach Jeoffrey Chua noted that the excitement among athletes is heightened compared to last year due to increased anticipation from the crowd.

The competition will serve as a selection process for the national team for upcoming competitions such as the U18 Asian Youth Games in Bahrain and the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand, with events scheduled from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily except for morning sessions of the walkathon.

National coaches Dario De Rosas and Jeoffrey Chua highlighted that athletes from various leagues like NCAA, UAAP, and PRISAA are looking forward to showcasing their talents and potentially joining the national training pool.
