Bello: No massive job loss for OFWs amid coronavirus

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III denied reports of massive job losses among overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Bello stated that there were only isolated cases of OFWs losing their jobs, primarily because some employers in Hong Kong are not permanent residents and have relocated.

He emphasized that these incidents do not represent an alarming unemployment rate for OFWs in countries like Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, and Taiwan.
