OFW deployment rises to 70K monthly

The number of Filipino workers sent overseas has increased by 13% from a year ago, reaching 475,981 as of September 1.

POEA Undersecretary Bernard Olalia attributed the increase to more relaxed travel restrictions and high demand for health workers in Europe and the Middle East.

The monthly deployment is now at 70,000, with 30,000 being land-based and 40,000 sea-based workers.

Health workers are particularly in demand in countries like the UK, Germany, and some Middle Eastern nations, while there is also high demand for seafarers in cargo, transport, and petroleum vessels.
