Oftana earns PBA Press Corps-Pilipinas Live Player of the Week for strong play

Calvin Oftana earned the PBA Press Corps-Pilipinas Live Player of the Week award for his outstanding performance from May 7 to 11, averaging 25 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.0 steal which helped TNT secure two wins and improve their win-loss record to 3-3 in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup.

Oftana's strong play included scoring 22 points with four rebounds and three blocks against Terrafirma on Wednesday, and 28 points with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals against Meralco on Sunday.

Despite his individual success, Oftana credited the team's second-string players, particularly Brian Heruela, for their energy and consistent play throughout the week.

Oftana emphasized the importance of rebounding in the absence of Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, noting that TNT has outrebounded their opponents by an average of 8.5 per game recently.

His performance put him on track to potentially win his third Player of the Week honor this season and the Order of Merit award at the end of the season.
