Experts warn NCR facing COVID-19 case surge

Experts warn of an impending surge in COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) as the reproduction number (R) has risen above 1, indicating exponential spread.

The Octa Research Group reported on December 21 that NCR's R value is now at 1.15, up from 1.06 on December 13.

Additionally, new cases per day in NCR have increased from an average of 370 during the week of December 6 to 428 during the week of December 13.

OCTA Research also noted that if current trends continue unabated, there could be a significant surge in cases over the Christmas holidays.
