DA assures adequate rice supply amid lockdown

The Department of Agriculture (DA) assured that the Philippines has adequate rice supply amid the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

Private importers have already delivered 500,000 metric tons of rice and an additional 1.3 million metric tons are expected from Vietnam, Thailand, and Myanmar.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles announced that the government is planning to import an additional 300,000 metric tons of rice through government-to-government arrangements for contingency purposes during the quarantine period.
