DepEd implements measures against COVID-19 in schools

DepEd Cagayan de Oro has implemented measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in schools, including social distancing during exams and postponing graduation ceremonies.

School principals can declare a suspension if there is one confirmed case within their school, while two or more cases across divisions would lead to regional suspensions as per DepEd protocol.

Private schools like Xavier University and Liceo de Cagayan have also moved up exam dates and suspended classes for cleaning.

In contrast, DepEd Davao has not encouraged class suspensions due to only two weeks left in the school year, though some local governments have independently decided to suspend classes.

DepEd emphasizes that schools must comply with 203 school days before ending the academic year and encourages following DOH protocols.
