NLEX-C5 Northlink project groundbreaking for P2.2B elevated expressway

On Tuesday, March 4, Metro Pacific Tollways Corp.-led NLEX Corp. held a groundbreaking ceremony and began construction for the P2.2 billion NLEX-C5 Northlink project in Quezon City.

The event was led by newly-appointed MPTC President & CEO Jose Ma. Lim and included officials from Valenzuela and Quezon cities, as well as representatives from various government agencies.

Section 1A of the initial two-kilometer segment will connect the Mindanao toll plaza to Quirino Highway through an elevated expressway over the Tullahan River, aiming to reduce congestion on local roads.

With nearly 80 percent of right-of-way issues resolved for the first phase, construction is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2026.

Local government units have pledged support for affected communities near the Tullahan River and Republic Avenue in Quezon City, ensuring minimal disruptions during construction.

Once operational, the elevated expressway could shorten travel time from Mindanao Avenue to C5 to around 5 to 10 minutes.
