Ninoy Aquino death anniversary marked with Mass, Marcos Jr issues message

Family members and supporters of democracy icon and late Senator Benigno 'Ninoy' Aquino marked his 42nd death anniversary with a Holy Mass on Thursday.

Kiko Aquino-Dee, Ninoy's grandson, emphasized the importance of loving one's country and praised his grandfather for showing hope during dark times.

Ninoy's assassination at the Manila International Airport in 1983 sparked the People Power Revolution that led to the ousting of President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. two decades later.

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr., who was elected in May 2022, issued a message for the commemoration, highlighting his administration's commitment to reconciliation and peace.

Marcos said that through this observance, the country is signaling its readiness for leadership focused on unity and harmony despite differences.
