Palace: PH has enough rice supply for 84 days

The Philippines has sufficient rice supply for 84 days, according to the Department of Agriculture (DA), despite the enhanced community quarantine.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles assured the public that government measures will ensure stable food supplies during the ECQ.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar attributed the projected volume to increased rice production from DA’s Plant, Plant, Plant Program and import arrivals based on sanitary and phytosanitary import clearances.

The National Food Authority (NFA) also assured sufficient supply of rice for 11 days’ national consumption and urged commercial traders to continue importing rice and maintaining reasonable prices.
