Yuchengco-led firm starts 40 MW solar project in Isabela

Yuchengco-led BKS Green Energy Corp., a subsidiary of PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC), has commenced construction on its 40 MWdc Limbauan Solar Power Project in San Pablo, Isabela.

The project, which is expected to generate approximately 59 GWh of clean energy annually upon completion by the end of this year, will supply power to around 33,000 households and reduce about 31,700 metric tons of carbon emissions.

Solar panels for the Limbauan solar power project were supplied by Trina Solar Co., Ltd. The project is divided into two phases: Phase 1 delivering six MWdc to ISELCO and Phase 2 adding 34 MWdc to NGCP's grid.

PGEC Vice President Maria Victoria Olivar emphasized that this initiative will enhance energy supply, create around 500 to 600 jobs during peak construction, and contribute to the economic and social progress of Cagayan Valley.

Department of Energy Director Marissa Cerezo highlighted the importance of private investment in renewable energy facilities to meet increasing power demands, noting that BKS Green Energy Corp.'s project is one of the winning bidders under the second Green Energy Auction (GEA-2) slated for completion this year.
