MGen activates 52.8MW solar plant in Isabela

On Wednesday, March 11, MGen Renewable Energy Inc., the renewable energy unit of Meralco PowerGen Corporation, activated its 52.8-megawatt solar power plant in Isabela.

The MGreen Cordon Solar project is one of the largest under the Department of Energy's second Green Energy Auction and will provide clean energy for over 53,000 households while reducing carbon emissions equivalent to taking 11,700 gasoline cars off the road annually.

During its construction phase, the project created more than 800 jobs in Barangay Capirpiriwan, contributing significantly to local socio-economic development.

Dennis Jordan, president of MGreen, highlighted that the project was completed four months ahead of schedule as a testament to balancing economic progress with environmental responsibility.

The DOE and Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) praised the initiative for its role in advancing towards renewable energy targets set by the National Renewable Energy Plan.
