Negros Oriental declares state of calamity, implements quarantine

The province of Negros Oriental declared a state of calamity and implemented a general community quarantine starting Tuesday, March 17, in response to the threat posed by the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Governor Roel Degamo issued Executive Order 21, which follows the resolution of the Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The province's first death from Covid-19 was reported on Sunday, March 15.

Officials will continue to monitor people closely at the barangay level.
