NEDA approves P3.8B civil service project, extends bridge safety plan

The NEDA Board approved the P3.8 billion Philippine Civil Service Modernization Project to improve public sector human resource management processes and streamline fund management for faster service delivery.

Secretary Arsenio Balisacan announced that the project will be implemented in 39 pilot government agencies starting in 2025, with full expansion to 1,187 government agencies within ten years.

The board also agreed to increase costs and extend implementation periods for Metro Manila Priority Bridges Seismic Improvement Project (MMPBSIP) by P2.406 billion, focusing on safety and resilience of two bridges in the National Capital Region.

In addition, the inclusion of Secretaries from the Departments of Agriculture and Education was approved to ensure priorities in agriculture, food security, and education are addressed.

The NEDA Board also confirmed 'ad referendum' decisions on airport upgrades, including the Laguindingan International Airport in Cagayan de Oro, and reported progress on 186 infrastructure flagship projects under the Build-Better-More Program.
