NCRPO files charges against 8 cops for robbing Chinese businessman

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has filed criminal charges against eight policemen who allegedly robbed a Chinese businessman of PHP85 million in Las Piñas City under the guise of a legitimate police operation.

Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin, NCRPO chief, said all eight officers were subjected to inquest proceedings for robbery, serious illegal detention, and unlawful arrest, with additional administrative cases leading to possible dismissal from service.

The suspects raided the businessman's home on Wednesday, April 2, taking cash and valuables under threat of violence, according to Aberin.

Investigations revealed multiple operational violations, including a lack of coordination with local stations, non-compliance with body-worn camera use, and failure to seek clearance from supervisors.

Aberin emphasized that NCRPO will not tolerate any illegal activities and warned involved members they face investigation, criminal charges, and dismissal from service.
