NCR COVID-19 positivity rate climbs to 12.4%

The COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila has climbed to 12.4%, up from 11.1% on November 26.

OCTA Research fellow Guido David noted increases in positivity rates across several areas in Luzon, including Bataan, Cagayan, Camarines Sur, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Quezon, Rizal, and Zambales.

David also highlighted that Metro Manila's new weekly cases increased by 56%, from 264 on November 24 to 411 on December 1.

The current positivity rate increase mirrors trends observed during the Omicron BA.5 and XBB waves, suggesting a similar trajectory for the BQ.1 wave in December.
