NBI rescues ten women from sex trafficking in La Union
Ten young women, allegedly being offered for paid sex, were rescued on Wednesday, March 5, in San Fernando City, La Union.
The National Bureau of Investigation-Region 1 (NBI-1) conducted a sting operation with social workers from the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Region 1 (DSWD-1) and Project Rescue Children Philippines Inc.
During the operation, an undercover NBI agent posing as a customer made a payment to Danica Aliocod alias 'Tolits', who was arrested along with ten young women at a lodging house in Barangay San Vicente.
At least two victims admitted they were being offered P3,000 each for sexual services by their handler, Tolits.
The victims are believed to be at least 18 years old but their ages need further verification through dental examination.
DSWD has assured that comprehensive services for recovery and reintegration of trafficking victims are available, while NBI-1 Director Atty. Joel Tovera vowed to intensify efforts against human trafficking as directed by NBI Director Jaime D. Santiago.
