NBI rescues over 100 from trafficking club, arrests 4
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced on Monday the arrest of four individuals for alleged human trafficking and the rescue of more than 100 people from a club in Makati City.
During an entrapment operation conducted by the NBI-Organized and Transnational Crimes Division (OTCD) along with other agencies, joint operatives arrested the operators of the club and one person who received payments for the victims on March 7.
The Makati Social Welfare Development (MWSD) interviewed and assessed 102 customer care assistants from the club the following day, after which they were turned over to social workers in their respective local government units.
Six CCAs voluntarily provided sworn statements to the NBI confirming sexual offers and activities for a fee within the establishment.
The arrested subjects are facing inquest proceedings before Makati prosecutors under Section 4(a) of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended by the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012.
They were subsequently transferred to the NBI Detention Facility at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
