BRP Ramon Alcaraz returns India for engine fire repairs

The Philippine Navy's offshore patrol vessel, BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16), returned to Cochin, India on Saturday for repairs after a fire broke out in its main engine room on Thursday night.

BRP Davao Del Sur continued its voyage back to the Philippines with 18 Filipino repatriates and 200,000 donated face masks and is expected to arrive at Manila South Harbor by May 23.

One sailor was airlifted for medical treatment in an Indian hospital while another received care on board. The US Navy’s Naval Systems Command will assist with repairs due to the ship being acquired from the US.
