Nancy Binay proclaims winner of Makati mayoral race, defeating Luis Campos

Former Senator Nancy Binay was officially proclaimed as the next mayor of Makati City by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) city board of canvassers Tuesday afternoon after securing victory in the mayoralty race with 114,898 votes.

Nancy defeated her brother-in-law Luis Campos who received 85,664 votes, maintaining a significant lead and winning in 19 out of Makati's 23 barangays.

Binay will succeed her sister Abby Binay, who has been mayor since 2016 and is now running for senator; the family has controlled Makati City since 1987.

Nancy expressed gratitude for her victory on her birthday, stating it was a wish granted each time she ran in 2013, 2019, and 2025.

She plans to enhance programs initiated by her father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, and continued by Abby, while expressing hope for reconciliation with her sister during the transition period.
