MWSS bans water service disconnection in Alert Level 5 or granular lockdown areas

The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) Regulatory Office has directed Manila Water Co., Inc. and Maynilad Water Services, Inc. to suspend water service disconnection activities in areas under Alert Level 5 or granular lockdown.

Patrick Lester N. Ty, chief regulator of MWSS, stated that this directive applies only to these specific alert levels and not to the current Alert Level 4 status of Metro Manila.

The suspension of disconnections was initially implemented from early August until mid-September due to enhanced community quarantine measures.
