MWSS assures no water supply issues in Metro Manila, Angat Dam level higher than last year
The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) assured Tuesday that there will be no water supply issues in Metro Manila and nearby provinces during the hot dry season.
Patrick Dizon, MWSS acting deputy administrator, said Angat Dam's current elevation of 207.4 meters ensures sufficient water storage, which is 13 meters higher compared to last year’s level of 194 meters.
Dizon noted that ninety percent of the region’s water supply comes from Angat Dam but this dependency is decreasing as new dams are being built in Laguna and Rizal with completion expected by the end of the year.
The Upper Wawa Dam in Rodriguez, Rizal, set to start operations by December 2025, will reduce Angat Dam's contribution to around 86% and provide a daily capacity of over 700 million liters.
This development aims to enhance water security for Metro Manila and the province of Rizal during dry seasons.
