Muntinlupa City enforces DA rice price cap, P41.13-P57.57/kg

The Muntinlupa City government reminded traders and consumers about the current price cap on imported premium rice set by the Department of Agriculture (DA) at P58 per kilo.

Mayor Ruffy Biazon emphasized the importance of adherence to this price regulation to protect consumer interests, but noted that the DA is considering lowering the MSRP to P45 per kilogram by March 31 if global prices continue to decline and the Philippine peso strengthens further.

Consumers are advised to be vigilant about rice prices and report any violations immediately to the authorities as retailers will need to justify prices above the new cap, which should range between P41.13 and P57.57 per kilogram according to recent DA data.

The city government is collaborating with the DA to ensure proper implementation of these regulations for the benefit of all Muntinlupa residents.

Traders are reminded that non-compliance can result in legal consequences, as mandated by DA's Administrative Circular No. 01 series of 2025.
