SMC, MPTC waive tolls on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve

San Miguel Corp (SMC) and Metro Pacific Tollways Corp (MPTC) have announced that they will waive toll fees on their respective expressways during Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve to ease holiday travel for motorists.

The waiver applies from 10 p.m. on December 24 to 6 a.m. on December 25, and again from 10 p.m. on December 31 to 7 a.m. on January 1, 2025, covering SMC's Skyway System, NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), STAR Tollway, and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) as well as MPTC’s North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), NLEX Connector, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), and the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX).

SMC Chairman Ramon Ang said this initiative is their way of thanking motorists who use the expressways and helping them get home during the holidays.

Patrollers, security personnel, and emergency response teams will be deployed, with tow trucks pre-positioned at strategic areas to handle incidents quickly.

Roadworks that could affect traffic flow will be suspended from noon on December 20 until January 3, 2025, while traffic monitoring centers will operate around the clock to manage vehicle traffic.

SMC advises motorists to plan their trips ahead and allow extra time for travel due to expected heavy traffic during the holidays.
