NLEX, SCTEX see lighter traffic on Christmas Eve

Motorists are expected to experience eased traffic along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) on Christmas Eve, according to Robin Ignacio of NLEX’s Traffic Operations Department.

Friday and Saturday saw heavy traffic congestion between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m., as well as from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m., but traffic is now moving quickly in both directions along the expressways on Tuesday morning.

Ignacio anticipates another surge of motorists returning to Metro Manila around December 27 to 29, advising drivers to check their RFID stickers and ensure sufficient load for smooth travel.

The Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation will waive toll payments from 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve until 6 a.m. on Christmas Day, as well as from New Year's Eve until early morning of January 1.

Drivers are encouraged to install RFID stickers if they do not already have them and to monitor traffic updates for a smoother holiday travel experience.
