Philippines deploys more cops to enforce social distancing

The Philippine government will deploy more police officers in Manila and nearby cities to enforce social distancing measures due to an increase in coronavirus cases.

Presidential spokesman Herminio Roque cited the need for increased police presence as Filipinos struggle to follow physical distancing rules despite wearing face masks.

Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya announced that about 180 additional cops have been deployed in Pasay City and more will be sent to Navotas and Malabon cities to enforce quarantine protocols.
