DILG backs extended ECQ to flatten curve

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) supports extending the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon to help 'flatten the curve' of COVID-19 cases.

Without an extension, Año warned that the Philippines could experience a spike similar to Italy's after lifting lockdown measures.

Ted Herbosa, a government special adviser and UP executive vice president, suggested extending ECQ but with modifications to sustain the current success in reducing transmission.
