MMFF unveils first four entries for 51st edition

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) unveiled its first four official entries at a grand launch event hosted by Enchong Dee and Jervi 'KaladKaren' Wrightson in a Makati mall on Tuesday, marking the start of the 51st edition.

With the theme 'A New Era for Philippine Cinema,' the MMFF aims to build upon the success of its 50th edition, which was extended until January 14 due to public demand.

'Reconnect,' set during the Christmas season, features Carmina Villaroel, Gloria Diaz, Alexa Miro, Gerald Anderson, and Zoren Legaspi under Jade Castro's direction, exploring life without internet through six family narratives.

Piolo Pascual stars in 'Manila's Finest,' a crime-thriller directed by Rae Red set during the First Quarter Storm in 1970s Manila, delving into themes of social inequality.

'Shake Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins' extends the record of the longest-running film series with Ivana Alawi and Fyang Smith among others under Shugo Praico's direction.
