MMFF announces eight films for 51st edition

Eight films will highlight the 51st edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) with a theme of 'A New Era for Philippine Cinema', aiming to offer diverse genres suitable for Filipino families.

Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Don Artes and Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay announced that scaling down from ten to eight entries this year will ensure proper distribution in cinemas, making it easier for each film to earn and achieve good results.

Two films per genre are planned to cater to audience demand, including the return of 'Shake, Rattle, and Roll' with a promising script and big stars.

Artes expressed hope that this year's MMFF will exceed last year's box office target of around P820 million by exploring options such as student discounts to make films more affordable.

The Parade of Stars event will take place in Makati on December 19, with Mayor Binay assuring a grand celebration despite the route yet to be finalized.
