'Green Bones' wins six MMFF awards; jury integrity upheld

The 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal concluded on Friday night, December 27, with 'Green Bones' winning six awards including Best Picture.

Noel Ferrer, the festival's spokesperson, assured that the results were fair and final, emphasizing the integrity of the jury since they took charge in 2016.

Ferrer clarified on his Facebook page that there were no leaks or tampering with the results, and only the Jury Chair and MMFF Executive Director knew the outcomes before the ceremony.

Despite criticism from netizens over some winners and nominees, Ferrer reiterated the jury's integrity and process in a post on Saturday morning, December 28.

The board of jurors was led by UP Film Institute professor emeritus Nicanor Tiongson and included other industry professionals such as FDCP chairperson Jose 'Joey' Javier Reyes and journalist Marinel Cruz.

During the awards ceremony, Dennis Trillo won Best Actor for his role in 'Green Bones,' while Judy Ann Santos was named Best Actress for her performance in 'Sangandaan.'
